To see a modern cart is not much different at a glance from the original classic design. It is essentially a small utility truck intended to help get golfers and their bags of clubs from one hole to the next. Most golf carts are powered by either a gas engine or an electric motor powered by batteries driving two of three or four wheels.
Golf carts don’t suffer a lot of wear and tear and the worst accident damage is likely to be a small low speed dent at worst. With the correct maintenance and servicing you can expect a golf cart to last for many years making a used golf cart a great buy when compared with the cost of new ones.
There are two main types of golf cart either electrically driven or with a gas engine and both are economical in use. If you care which type you use then you do have the choice but most of us don’t really care what sort of engine we are using.
When you are buying a used golf cart you should check that it has been serviced correctly. Any golf cart should be serviced at appropriate intervals and either gas engine or electric will need a little attention now and again. The electric golf carts have far fewer moving parts and servicing often involves little more than a quick check to ensure the electrical connections are in order. They don’t often need any attention but obviously wheels, tires and brakes should be checked regularly.
Everyone doesn’t want the same thing so some people decide to customize their golf carts with their own style of decoration and color. One day you might see a golf cart made up to look like a fire truck and another might look like a Cadillac. You can stand out from the crowd and show you are special with a golf cart that looks rather different to the normal ones.
You will see golf carts in use at many different types of venue and if you see them at your local stadium they are still called golf carts, for some strange reason. Being a cheap and flexible vehicle they are often used to move people and equipment around theme parks and other large sites such as factories and utility sites.
Golf carts are great at doing what they do and they go on doing that for years so we should be grateful to the guy who invented them. I guess they can wear out eventually but I don’t see them piled up at scrapyards and they can be used for things other than golf.
