Proper Club Alignment, Secret to Great Shots, Learn More…
September 10th, 2008    Subscribe To Our FeedAs with just about anything that has to do with aligning something to make that object head to its intended path, the same thing applies to golf. Golf is all about the target and if you don’t get aligned to the target that golf ball is not going to go there.
There are some things that you must do in order for the ball to travel to its intended target and aligning the club face to the target is a key factor. There have been many studies that state the common fault of golfers is their alignment. This has been proven using the “iron Byron” and misaligning the club and watching what happens to the golf ball. Today we are going to go through some steps that you can take to improve this, and there are really 4 or 5 things that you need to do consistently to get the correct club alignment.
The first thing that you want to do before anything is:
1. Pick out the target
What do I mean by this is starting off, get directly behind the ball and looking at where you want the golf ball to go. See the intended line of the ball to the intended target out in the distance.
2. Bring this target closer to you
You pick out a leaf, piece of grass on the ground in front of the ball, a spot in front of the ball. This is going to be your clubface alignment target. This brings the target that you really want to hit, closer to you so you can aim the clubhead (clubface) at this target.
3. Step up to the ball
Now you want to step up to the ball and place the club behind the golf ball and align the clubface directly at the target that you picked out in step 2 above. This is the most important step. Don’t take your eye off that target until you get that club squared to this target. This is going to be your target line.
4. Align your body
Now that you have the clubhead aligned to your target, square up your feet, shoulders and hips to be parallel to the intended target line. Now know that once you have aligned the clubhead to that secondary target that is closer to you, you are also aligned to the real target out in the distance.
Now that you have the clubhead and body to the target, you can finish your normal routine and be prepared for more accurate shots and have the ball accurately finish much closer to where you have aimed.
