Greenkeeping Isn’t Easy

I have taken part in many jobs during my life so far and I have to say that I am really not that old yet and working on a golf course was one of the most interesting jobs I have had so far. I have to say that when I turned up for work I was pretty shocked when I was told about the amount of work it takes for a golf course to look great.

The hardest part for working at this course for me was getting up at 4 in the morning and starting work at 5, after this it was okay. Of course the benefits of getting up this early in the morning means that you get to finish around 12.30 which is perfect as you have the rest of the day to do what you want!.

One of the main roles that I had to take part in was raking all of the bunkers, it was not as bad as many people think that it might be. The raking of over 150 bunkers is a pretty big task and it takes all morning for two people to do it, you do get to meet a few people. The great thing about working there is that you really do get to know the course and respect the place.

Most of the people that I met during the work were of course golfers but they were always complimenting the course and it is great to hear that when you are working on it all of the time. Once the morning shift had been done we would head back into the room and have a nice lunch for free. The choices were from anything on the menu and usually I would simply choose the full English breakfast as it was really filling.

Working on a golf course is not what people usually think it is.

So charge up those  golf trolleys and those UPS batteries and start playing golf. Mobility scooter batteries can be used for this purpose too.
